    Webinar on Communicate to Win The input session for teachers was held on 4th August 2021 at 2:00pm. The programme commenced with a prayer song. The Principal Sr Jecintha D’Sa welcomed Dr B G Bhaskar, the resource person of the day. He is an Academician Practicing psychologist, Motivational Speaker in Education Field for the Past 20+ years at various capacities like Teacher, Researcher, Assistant Professor, Administrator, Teacher Educator, Principal of various reputed Teacher Training Institutions, Trainer, and Guest Faculty in Bangalore University – Department of Education. Presently serving as a Resource Person at Ratna Sagar Pvt Limited. He spoke on the topic “Communicate to Win”. The proper and effective communication is an important tool in the hands of management of any organization to bring about overall change in the organizational policies, procedures and work style and make the staff to accept and respond positively. Effective communication is vital for efficient management and to improve industrial relations. He also explained about types of communication, barriers to effective communication, seven steps to improve voice modulation, body language, characteristics of good online teaching. Teachers have been guided by the resource person to try again and again till you reach goal. He also gave some tips to improve communication.     National Science Day – 2021 National National Science Day was celebrated on 27th Feb 2021 as 28th Feb was Sunday. The days programme began with a prayer, followed by a group song on science day, introductory speech on the importance of science day by the students and a few experiments performed by the students and the teachers. Groupwise science quiz was conducted and five groups were chosen for the finals from a total of thirteen groups participated. Children enjoyed a lot. Prizes were distributed for the winners of the quiz programme and our Headmistress congratulated the winners and also the teachers Mrs Roopa, Mrs Vidya, Mrs Jennifer, Mrs Cecilia, Mrs Divya and Ms Sowjanya. In connection with science day many competitions were held online for all the students, such as model making for all the classes. Recording seed germination for classes 1 to 3, making a video on any one of the given topics to classes 4 & 5 and making a PPT on any on of the topics from their science textbook for classes 6 and 7.     Fit India week 2020 Report Fit India Fit India Movement is a national wide movement in India to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. It was launched by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi at Indira Gandhi stadium in New Delhi on 29th August 2019 on National Sports Day. This year to promote fitness among school children ‘Fitness Week’ was celebrated as a part of Fit India Movement. As per the information on 14/12/2020 to 19/12/2020. Fit India week was celebrated in St Cecily’s English Hr Pry School, Udupi. Virtual classes were conducted each day to encourage the students. On 14/12/2020 in the virtual class prayer and activites classes were conducted. Students were instructed to participate in different activities like prayer, aerobics, dance, skipping etc. 50 students were participated in various activities and sent photos to the school whatsapp number. Photos and information’s were uploaded to the Fit India website on that day itself. On 15/12/2020 in the virtual class prayer and standing yogasana was done. Students participated in the activities and sent the photos to the school whatsapp. 115 students were participated. On 16/12/2020 instructions were given to the students to play concentration games like chess, rubrics cube and preparation of posters about “Fit India”. 57 students were participated. On 17/12/2020 essay writing or creating poem activity was given on the topic of “Taking care when contaminated diseases to avoid and food habits.” 120 students were participated. On 18/12/2020 online quiz and one minute games were conducted. 350 students were participated. On 19/12/2020 Fit India family activity was given. Students were participated in various activities like family warm-up exercises, family yoga, family games were played. 91 students were participated. Each days activity photos and information were uploaded to the Fit India Website and certificates were downloaded. Fit India activity video was prepared and sent to the students.

The Principal, Sr Jecintha D’Sa welcomed Mr Ignatius Kuriakose, the resource person of the day. His primary focus as a Trainer is on Effective communication skills, soft skills, Language Training and Personality development. He has a specialization in Human Resources Management from Loyola College, Chennai. He believes that effective communication leads to better and more efficient team work and improves business outcomes.     Science Math Syllabus Evaluation & Promotion Syllabus and Medium St Cecily School follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus from KG to Class XII with personal inputs and activity oriented education so that the pupils learn with flexibility and active involvement in the learning process. English is used as the main medium of instruction. National and regional languages are also given due importance. From the academic year 2017-18, CBSE has introduced remodelled structure of assessment as given below: Classes I – V : Term I – Portion: From June to September Term II – Portion: From October to March Class VI : Term I – Portion: From June to September Term II – Portion: From October to March + 10% of portion of Term I covering significant topics Class VII : Term I – Portion: From June to September Term II – Portion: From October to March + 20% of portion of Term I covering Significant topics Class VIII : Term I – Portion: From June to September Term II – Portion: From October to March + 30% of portion of Term I covering Significant topics Achievement Records will have to be seen and signed by the parents on open house days. The Students’ promotion to the next class will be based on their entire year’s performance. Nurturing the Tiny Tots ‘Kindergarten’ in the German Language means ‘Children’s Garden’. In this beautiful garden lovely flowers bloom and blossom spreading around the sweet fragrance of their presence, innocence, childlikeness and love. During the two years when they bloom into beautiful flowers, the staff tirelessly attends to their intellectual, emotional, spiritual, physical and aesthetic growth through the choice of subjects taken up with them. The morning Assembly opens the day to God in fervent prayer and song followed by Rhymes and Jingles and Action Songs in various languages. These warm them up for the rest of the day. The morning session introduces them to the world of Numbers, the English Alphabet and simple Keep-fit exercises-all made easy to grasp and remember through action songs and interesting stories. The Nature Walk and Environmental Studies introduces them to nature and to the beauty around with an awareness to protect and guard it against any hurt or damage to God’s gift to them. We also want to make them know the beauty of creation and of God’s love for them in providing such a lovely place to inhabit. They have a snack break at 10:00 a.m. for 10 minutes only, where they enjoy the biscuits and water which the children bring from home when they come in the morning. This is the time when they are initiated into good habits of eating, cleanliness, independence, orderliness and discipline, intermingling with others and socializing with their companions. The LKG remains in the Institution during the morning session which is from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. After the lunch break from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., the UKG, children take a ‘nap’ of half an hour’s duration. From 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. they are involved in activities improving on their sense of colours, shapes and dexterity of fingers at art of various kinds. They have Drawing, colouring, clay modelling, Copy Writing and Story-telling and Dance. Children listen to audio-video cassettes which keep their feet tapping in rhythmic steps. P.T. is taught to relax, to increase their power of concentration and to improve their muscular fitness and flexibility. Craft like Paper folding, Finger printing, Vegetable Painting and Paper sticking are taught in the afternoon. Classrooms are equipped with Smart Class System and good educative C.Ds connected to the lesson are shown to the children during the class. At the KG level we do a lot of Oral Work and involve children in activities of various kinds that will help in their growth-but have less of written work. Through these exercises and activities we desire to achieve the Aims and Objectives of our Institution and make attendance in class a joyful experience. Talent Week is held to discover and develop their talents and skills before the Children’s Day Celebration. During the Talent Week, competitions are conducted in the following: Telling (Other than from school syllabus) Singing, Drawing, Fancy Dress and Dance. Parents and Guardians are reminded that without their help and co-operation, not much fruit can be expected in the normal intellectual and cultural development of the child. They are therefore requested to enforce regularity and discipline in their Child’s work and supervise their daily homework. Evaluation and Promotion 1.Co-Scholastic Activities: comprise of Work Education, Art Education and Health & Physical Education. These activities will be graded on a 5-point grading scale (A to E) and will not have descriptive indicators unlike the past year. 1.Discipline: Discipline significantly impacts career shaping and it helps build character. Hence, the students will also be assessed for the discipline which will be based on the factors like attendance, sincerity, behavior, values, tidiness, respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitude towards the school, society, nation and others – a 5-point grading scale (A to E) will be followed. It is the policy of the School not to fail a student as far as possible. At the same time, a student who has not acquired the necessary skills to study in a higher class may be not promoted. MCCS is interested in providing additional possible facilities for slow or weak learners to acquire the necessary skills if parents co-operate with the School in this regard.     ' Importance and goals of NEP' Udupi, 25/5/2023 ​ The teachers of St Cecily's English Medium Higher Primary School, Udupi experienced a thought provoking interactive session with Mr John Nogueira in the school auditorium on the 25th of May 2023. The session highlighted the importance of NEP, in particular the 6 major goals, '21st Century Skills' being one of them. Mr Nogueira also emphasized the importance of 'Art Integrated Learning' in today's education to bring out the hidden talents of students.     Attendance Regular attendance in classes is a must for promotion. A student will not be promoted to the higher class if his/her attendance falls below 80%. Exceptionally valid cases only will be condoned to a maximum extent of 10% shortage. Leave Application The leave application should be made on the pages set aside for the purpose in the school diary. ​ For every absence, a written statement signed by the parent/guardian is required on the day the pupil returns. If the student is absent for more than three days for reasons of ill health, a certificate from a doctor is required stating illness and fitness. ​ A student requiring leave for any part of a day on account of sudden illness or such unavoidable circumstances should obtain the permission of the class teacher and Principal before leaving the school. Absence record signed by parent/guardian shall be submitted the next working day itself. Applications for leave during the beginning/last few days of any term will not be entertained. If, owing to illness a pupil cannot attend, a medical certificate must be submitted. Re-Admission If the name of the student is stuck off roll due to any reason, his/her admission entirely depends upon the discretion of the Principal and the availability of the seat. If re-admission is allowed, the child has to pay all the arrears due to the school. ​ A student, who arrives late, will require to bring an explanatory note from the parent/guardian. A student will not be promoted to the next higher class if his/her attendance falls below 80%. Students will not be allowed to leave school premises during the school hours unless parents/guardians come personally to take them home. ​ Continuous absence for 15 days from school without permission will lead to the removal of the student’s name from the school register. In such cases, re-admission will be done only after payment of Rs.200/-. Re-admission cannot be claimed as a matter of right. The school authorities will have full discretion in this matter.
